Question 1

I'm new to grip training. Which strength level should I start with?

Accepted Answer

This is the most common question! If you're an average adult male with some gym experience, the #1 is the most recommended starting point. For most women or complete beginners, the #0.5 is a better, confidence-building choice. A good rule of thumb from experienced users: you should be able to close your starter gripper for 5-10 solid reps. It's better to master a lighter one and progress than be stuck with a gripper you can't move.

Question 2

How does this justify its price compared to a cheap sports store gripper?

Accepted Answer

The difference is in precision, durability, and consistency. Cheap grippers often have uneven handles, weak springs that quickly lose tension, and vague resistance. The Captains of Crush is machined from aluminum and steel with a hardened spring, offering exacting symmetry and a consistent, lifetime-level challenge. As countless reviews state, it's a professional-grade tool, not a disposable toy. The "Made in USA" construction is a key part of this value.

Question 3

Will the bare metal handles tear up my hands?

Accepted Answer

The knurling is intentionally aggressive for maximum grip, which can be tough on bare skin. It's a frequent topic on fitness forums. Most users recommend using gym chalk to improve grip and reduce friction. For high-rep work or if you have soft hands, some athletes lightly tape the handles. The discomfort lessens as your hands adapt, but the robust knurling is a defining—and for serious trainers, beloved—feature.

Question 4

I bought one, but how do I actually train with it to get stronger?

Accepted Answer

Great question! The gripper is a tool, not a program. The consensus from advanced users is to treat it like strength training: focus on low-rep, high-effort sets (e.g., 3-5 sets of 1-5 reps near your max), with 2-3 minutes of rest between sets, 2-3 times per week. Avoid daily high-rep workouts to prevent overuse. The goal is to progressively close a harder gripper, not just do more reps on an easy one.

Question 5

What's your return policy if I order the wrong strength?

Accepted Answer

We want you to have the right tool for your journey. If you order the wrong strength level, please contact our customer service within 30 days of receipt with the gripper unused and in its original packaging. We'll help you arrange an exchange for a more suitable model. Many TikTok users suggest buying from retailers with more flexible return policies if you're completely unsure.
