Question 1

Will these fit my specific chair legs, and how do I ensure a snug fit?

Accepted Answer

These protectors are designed for cylindrical chair legs with an outer diameter between 15/16" (0.94 inches) and 1-5/16" (1.31 inches). For the best fit, use a caliper or ruler to measure your chair leg's exact diameter. Many users on Reddit suggest choosing a size at the lower end of your measurement for a tighter, more secure hold that prevents slipping.

Question 2

Are these the sticky felt pads I'm used to, or something different?

Accepted Answer

They are primarily silicone sleeves that slide over the leg—they are not adhesive felt pads. The "felt" in the title refers to the felt-like effect of noise reduction. This is a common point of clarification. If you're looking for traditional stick-on pads, these are not the right product. However, the silicone design is praised for being easy to install and not leaving residue.

Question 3

How durable are they, and will they tear easily?

Accepted Answer

Based on thousands of reviews, they hold up well for typical indoor use on dining and office chairs. However, a small percentage of users note that the silicone can thin or tear after several months of heavy, daily sliding on rough surfaces. For longevity, they are best for moderate use on smooth floors like hardwood, laminate, or low-pile carpet.

Question 4

I've seen comments about them slipping off. How do I prevent that?

Accepted Answer

Slipping usually occurs if the cap is slightly too large for the leg. Ensuring a proper fit is key. Some TikTok users have shared a helpful hack: for a borderline-loose fit, you can add a single wrap of painter's tape around the chair leg to increase its diameter slightly, creating a much tighter grip for the silicone cap.

Question 5

What's the best use case for these, and who are they not for?

Accepted Answer

They are perfect for quickly quieting and protecting floors from standard wooden or metal chair legs in dining rooms, home offices, and apartments. They are not recommended for extremely heavy furniture, outdoor use, or on abrasive surfaces like concrete or textured tile, as they will degrade quickly. For those scenarios, thicker rubber caps or heavy-duty glides are better alternatives.
