Question 1

Is the 15-inch board big enough for adults to play comfortably, or is it more for kids?

Accepted Answer

The 15-inch size is a popular travel-friendly compromise. Many adult users on platforms like Reddit find it perfectly comfortable for casual play, especially given its 2-in-1 storage design. However, if you plan to use it primarily as your home set for daily games, some players recommend a larger, standard-sized board (often 20 inches). This set excels as a space-saver and for taking on the go.

Question 2

How strong are the magnets? Will the pieces stay put if the board is jostled?

Accepted Answer

The magnets are designed to securely hold pieces in place for normal play and travel, such as in a car or bag. Most reviewers are very satisfied, especially with the travel-friendly aspect. It's worth noting that a small number of users mention the knights (due to their shape) can be less secure than other pieces. For intense, rapid moves, the magnets may not be as strong as those in premium tournament-style magnetic sets, but they are generally praised for their purpose.

Question 3

What exactly is included in the "Gift Package"?

Accepted Answer

The "Gift Package" refers to the complete set presented in its attractive, sturdy wooden box, which is designed to be gift-ready. It includes the magnetic wooden chess/checkers board, all 34 magnetic playing pieces (with 2 extra queens), and the internal storage slots. It does not include additional external gift wrapping or a cardboard sleeve.

Question 4

Is this chess set suitable for a serious player, or is it just for beginners?

Accepted Answer

This set is celebrated for its excellent craftsmanship and value, making it a fantastic choice for beginners, families, and casual enthusiasts. Its beautiful aesthetic appeals to many. However, serious tournament players who prioritize heavy, weighted pieces and a perfectly frictionless slide might prefer a dedicated tournament board and pieces. As noted in some online reviews, several serious players love the board but occasionally use their own pieces with it.

Question 5

How durable is the wooden box and the board itself?

Accepted Answer

The durability is consistently highlighted as a major strength. With over 2,500 reviews averaging 4.7 stars, users praise the solid construction, secure hinges, and robust magnetic closure. The wooden box effectively protects the board and pieces during travel. The storage slots keep pieces organized and prevent rattling. It's built to withstand regular use, making it a reliable choice for families and travelers.
