Question 1

Is the smart display just a gimmick, or is it actually useful?

Accepted Answer

Based on user feedback, it's genuinely useful for many. It provides real-time data on how much power is being drawn by each port, which helps optimize charging for multiple devices. While some call it a satisfying gadget, practical users appreciate knowing if their laptop is charging at full speed or managing power distribution efficiently.

Question 2

Can this charger reliably fast-charge a 16-inch MacBook Pro and another device at the same time?

Accepted Answer

Yes, that's one of its key strengths. The 140W max output is designed to deliver full-speed charging to a high-power laptop like the MacBook Pro 16" via the USB-C port. When a second device is connected, it intelligently allocates power (e.g., 100W to the laptop, 40W to a tablet) to ensure both charge quickly. Reddit users often praise it for replacing two charger blocks.

Question 3

I've heard it can get quite warm. Is this normal and safe?

Accepted Answer

It is normal for high-power GaN chargers to become warm during operation, especially under full load. This model has built-in temperature control and multiple safety protections. For optimal performance and longevity, we recommend using it in a well-ventilated area and not covering it with blankets or clothing while in use.

Question 4

How does the build quality and included cable hold up? Should I buy a separate cable?

Accepted Answer

The charger itself has a premium, solid build that reviewers consistently praise. The included 5-foot USB-C to USB-C cable is functional and supports 140W charging. However, some users on social media note it can be stiff. If you prefer a softer, braided, or longer cable for flexibility, you may choose to use a compatible one you already own or purchase one separately.

Question 5

Who is this charger really best suited for, and are there simpler alternatives?

Accepted Answer

This charger is ideal for users with multiple high-wattage devices (like a MacBook Pro *and* an iPad) who want to minimize clutter and love tech-forward features. If you primarily charge one device at a time or are on a tighter budget, excellent alternatives exist. Many TikTok and YouTube creators recommend Anker's own 100W 3-port GaN charger or similar models from Ugreen for a more cost-effective, no-frills experience.
