Question 1

Is 4 g enough for a typical desktop PC CPU and GPU?

Accepted Answer

For a single CPU and one GPU, yes—the 4 g tube usually covers a couple of re-thermal pastes across a few builds. If you’re rebuilding multiple rigs or doing frequent repastes, you might want a larger size.

Question 2

Is MX-4 safe to apply on CPUs, GPUs, and consoles (PS4/Xbox)?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely. It’s non-conductive and non-capacitive, so it’s safe for delicate electronics when used correctly.

Question 3

How should I apply MX-4 and how much should I use?

Accepted Answer

Clean surfaces, apply a small pea-sized dot on the CPU/GPU die, then let the heatsink pressure spread it into a thin layer. Avoid squeezing too hard and don’t leave air bubbles.

Question 4

How long does MX-4 last, and when should I reapply?

Accepted Answer

It’s designed for long-term use and can stay effective for years. Reapply if you disassemble the system, replace the cooler, or notice higher temps.

Question 5

How does MX-4 compare to other TIMs, and is it worth choosing?

Accepted Answer

It’s a solid, value-focused all-rounder with easy application and broad compatibility. If you need the absolute lowest temps for extreme overclocking, premium pastes may be better, but MX-4 balances performance, safety, and price for most users. Many TikTok/YouTube reviewers praise its reliability and simple use, reinforcing its status as a dependable choice for desktops and consoles alike.
