Question 1

Will this U-lock fit my electric bike or mountain bike with a thick frame?

Accepted Answer

The 17mm thick shackle provides excellent security, but the *internal space* (the "U" shape's clearance) can be a tight fit for larger frame tubes or wide bike rack posts. We recommend measuring the area you plan to lock—typically your frame and a fixed object. Many TikTok users with standard road and hybrid bikes find it perfect, but some with extra-large e-bike frames suggest checking dimensions carefully if you need to lock both the frame and a wheel to a thick post.

Question 2

How reliable is the quick-release mounting bracket?

Accepted Answer

The included bracket offers convenient, tool-free installation. While most users find it holds securely for casual use, a common note from longer-term reviews is that the plastic clip can become loose or break with intense daily commuting over rough terrain. If you'll be mounting and removing the lock multiple times a day, you might want to secure it with the included screws for added stability, or consider carrying it in a bag.

Question 3

Is the included 5ft security cable strong enough to trust?

Accepted Answer

Think of the cable as a convenient extension for your primary security, not a standalone lock. It's perfect for quickly threading through a quick-release front wheel or your helmet, with the main U-lock securing your frame and rear wheel. As noted in several YouTube reviews, the cable is a deterrent against opportunistic "snatch-and-grabs" but can be cut with bolt cutters. For maximum security, use the robust U-lock as your main point of defense.

Question 4

What happens if my key breaks or the lock jams?

Accepted Answer

You receive three keys—we suggest storing one in a safe place at home. The lock mechanism is coated for weather resistance, but like all mechanical devices, it benefits from occasional lubrication (a dry graphite lock lubricant is best) to prevent sticking, especially after heavy rain or dusty rides. Question 5

How does this lock compare to more expensive brands like Kryptonite?

Accepted Answer

This lock is designed to deliver the core feature of a high-security, thick steel U-lock at a highly competitive price. You're getting excellent theft deterrence for the cost. More established brands often invest more in their mounting systems, finer anti-corrosion finishes, and longer warranty programs. If your priority is absolute maximum bracket durability and a well-known anti-theft guarantee, a higher-priced brand may be worth the investment. For most riders seeking sturdy, reliable security without the premium price tag, this lock is a highly-rated choice.
