Question 1

Does the AM8W work with both USB and XLR connections?

Accepted Answer

Yes. It offers dual USB/XLR connectivity, with USB working with PC, laptop, and Mac, and XLR working with a mixer or sound card. Note that it is not compatible with Xbox via USB.

Question 2

Are the function keys, RGB, and headphone monitoring available when using XLR?

Accepted Answer

No. All function keys, RGB, and headphone monitoring are only available via USB connection and are invalid for XLR connection; when using XLR you operate the mic through your mixer or audio interface instead.

Question 3

How is the sound quality and background noise rejection?

Accepted Answer

Reviews describe crystal-clear, clear sound without noise, and the dynamic mic picks up sound from the top while reducing unwanted background noise. For best results, speak within 2-6 inches of the top and set the gain knob to a proper level.

Question 4

Is it easy to set up and use?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Reviewers say it is plug and play via USB-C with little need for software, easy to set up with Windows without compatibility issues, and easy to assemble.

Question 5

Can the RGB lighting be turned off or changed?

Accepted Answer

Yes. You can turn the RGB on/off and change the lighting by tapping the RGB button, though this is only available for USB connection. One reviewer noted a minor RGB issue.
