Question 1

Does this HDMI splitter actually support 4K at 240Hz, or is that misleading?

Accepted Answer

Great question! The splitter *can* pass 240Hz signals, but only at lower resolutions like 1080p or 1440p. At 4K, the maximum refresh rate is 60Hz. For 8K, it caps at 60Hz as well. If you're a competitive gamer with a 4K 240Hz monitor, you'll need to run your console or PC at 1440p to get the full 240Hz. TikTok users and Reddit reviews often note this confusion, so we recommend checking your specific device's output settings.

Question 2

Do I need special HDMI 2.1 cables for this to work properly?

Accepted Answer

Yes, we strongly recommend using high-quality, certified HDMI 2.1 (Ultra High Speed) cables—especially if you want to hit 8K@60Hz or use features like HDR10+. The splitter itself supports the HDMI 2.1 spec, but if your cables are older HDMI 2.0, you may experience signal drops or limited bandwidth. If you notice flickering on your PS5 or Xbox Series X, upgrading your cables is the first fix to try.

Question 3

Why does my TV randomly switch inputs or turn off when using this switch (CEC issues)?

Accepted Answer

This is a known quirk of the HDMI-CEC system. The splitter passes CEC signals (like "turn on" or "switch input") from your connected devices, which can cause unexpected behavior if multiple devices are trying to control the same TV. Many users on forums disable CEC either on their TV or on individual devices (like the Fire Stick or Apple TV) to prevent conflicts. The splitter itself doesn't actively cause the issue—it's just relaying what the devices are saying to each other.

Question 4

The remote only works from a few feet away. Is that normal?

Accepted Answer

Yes, that's typical for this model. The remote uses IR (infrared), not Bluetooth, so it requires a clear line of sight to the front panel. If the splitter is hidden behind your TV or inside a cabinet, the remote won't work well. Some users place the splitter in a visible spot or use the manual button on the unit itself. If this is a dealbreaker, we recommend looking at RF (radio frequency) or Bluetooth-enabled switches instead.

Question 5

Is this splitter good for a PS5 or Xbox Series X gaming setup?

Accepted Answer

It depends on your expectations. For casual gaming at 4K@60Hz with HDR, it works great—many PS5 and Xbox users are happy with it. However, if you need Variable Refresh Rate (VRR), ALLM (Auto Low Latency Mode), or 120Hz+ at 4K for competitive play, this splitter won't deliver those features reliably. Some Reddit users report occasional signal dropouts during intense gaming sessions. For a dedicated high-end gaming rig, you might be better off with a powered HDMI 2.1 switch from a brand like Cable Matters or Zeskit. For a home theater with a mix of streaming devices and a console, this is a solid budget-friendly option.
