Question 1

Will this 2.5-ton scissor jack safely lift my SUV or crossover?

Accepted Answer

While the 2.5-ton (5,000 lb) capacity suggests it can handle many SUVs, real-world user feedback shows it performs best with sedans and smaller crossovers (up to mid-size like a Honda CR-V or RAV4). For heavier vehicles (full-size SUVs, trucks, or vans), the jack may feel unstable during lifting, and the crank handle requires significant effort. If you drive a larger vehicle, we recommend confirming your curb weight stays under 70% of the jack's rated capacity for a safety margin.

Question 2

How does this compare to a hydraulic jack or a more expensive scissor jack?

Accepted Answer

This is an emergency roadside tool, not a daily garage jack. Compared to a hydraulic floor jack, it's lighter, more compact, and costs much less—but requires more manual cranking and feels less stable. Many TikTok users noted it's fine for changing a flat on a level road, but for frequent use, a hydraulic bottle jack (around $30–$40) offers smoother lifting. Compared to OEM scissor jacks, this kit includes a lug wrench, but some buyers found the wrench too flimsy for stubborn bolts.

Question 3

Does the kit include everything I need to change a tire?

Accepted Answer

The kit comes with the scissor jack, a crank handle, and a one-sided lug wrench. It does not include a wheel chock, gloves, or a storage bag—common items mentioned in reviews as missing. For safe roadside use, we suggest adding your own rubber chocks, a reflective triangle, and work gloves. The lug wrench fits standard 19mm and 21mm nuts but may struggle with overtightened bolts.

Question 4

I've seen comments about rust after one use—is the quality really that bad?

Accepted Answer

Some users reported surface rust forming on the jack's threads and baseplate, especially after use in wet conditions or improper storage. This is more common with budget scissor jacks that have minimal corrosion protection. To extend its life, wipe the jack dry after any wet use and store it in a dry spot (inside the trunk, not exposed). A light spray of WD-40 on the threads every few months also helps. For the price, it's an acceptable compromise—but not built for outdoor storage.

Question 5

What's the minimum ground clearance needed to slide this jack under a car?

Accepted Answer

The jack's collapsed height is approximately 3.5 inches (9 cm), so your vehicle must have at least 4 inches of clearance under its designated lift point. Most sedans and compact SUVs meet this requirement, but some lowered sports cars or trucks with aftermarket bumpers may not. If you're unsure, measure the distance from the ground to your vehicle's jack point with a ruler before purchasing. This is a common pre-purchase question on forums, and measuring saves the hassle of a jack that won't fit.
