Question 1

My cat is 22 pounds — is this litter box actually big enough?

Accepted Answer

Yes, this is one of the roomiest open-top boxes on the market at 30 inches long. Most owners of Maine Coons, Ragdolls, and heavy tabbies report their cats have plenty of space to turn around without crouching. A few TikTok reviews show even 25-pound cats using it comfortably. Just keep in mind the footprint is about the size of a small dog crate — measure your space first.

Question 2

Does the plastic stain or hold onto odors over time?

Accepted Answer

This is the most common trade-off buyers mention. The non-stick plastic is easy to wipe clean, but it can absorb smells after 6-12 months of heavy use, especially with multiple cats. Some Reddit users recommend deep cleaning with an enzymatic cleaner every few weeks. For odor-sensitive owners, stainless steel boxes are a better long-term choice, though they cost 3-4x more.

Question 3

Is the included scoop any good?

Accepted Answer

Honestly, the included scoop is a weak point — many buyers report it snaps within the first few months. We recommend replacing it with a metal or heavy-duty plastic scoop separately. This is a common regret point in reviews, so don’t count on the included one as your daily driver.

Question 4

Will this box slide around on tile or hardwood floors?

Accepted Answer

The smooth plastic base can slide, especially when a heavy cat jumps in or out quickly. Silicone corner pads or a non-slip rug underneath fix this issue easily. Several YouTube reviewers suggest sticking felt pads on the bottom corners for a no-slip solution that still lets you slide the box out for cleaning.

Question 5

Is this a good deal compared to DIY storage tote litter boxes?

Accepted Answer

It depends on your priorities. This box costs more than a DIY 50-gallon tote ($12–15) but saves you the effort of cutting a hole and sanding sharp edges. The IRIS plastic is also slightly thicker than most storage bins, so it resists cracking better. If you want perfectly smooth edges and a ready-to-use design, it’s worth the price. If you’re fine with a little DIY, the tote route is cheaper and equally functional.
