Question 1

Is the "mash-up" one big ship or two separate ones? How does the combination work?

Accepted Answer

It’s two complete models — an X-wing and a TIE Fighter — that can be built and displayed separately. The real fun starts when you use the included connectors to merge them into a single, hybrid starship. Think of it as two classic builds plus a bonus creative challenge. Many fans on YouTube love showing off the different "mash-up" configurations they design on their own.

Question 2

How long does it take to build, and is it too easy or too hard for a 9-year-old?

Accepted Answer

Most builders finish in about 1–2 hours, making it a very satisfying weekend project. It's considered an excellent "in-between" set — complex enough to engage a 9-year-old without the frustration of a massive, multi-day build. A few parents have noted it’s a touch simple for experienced 12+ year-olds, who might prefer a more intricate, single-ship set like the X-wing Starfighter.

Question 3

Do the ships fall apart easily, or are they solid enough for play and display?

Accepted Answer

For a set designed with reconfiguration in mind, they hold together surprisingly well. The individual ships are sturdy and can withstand gentle play. When combined, the connection is firm enough for display, but we wouldn't recommend vigorous swooshing around the living room while they're attached. For kids who want to play actively, the separate ships are a safer bet.

Question 4

How many minifigures come in the box, and are they exclusive to this set?

Accepted Answer

You get four minifigures: two pilots and two battle droids. The pilots are the same ones from the *Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy* special, so they're currently exclusive to this set. This makes it a solid purchase for collectors who want unique characters to add to their LEGO Star Wars display.

Question 5

Some reviews say the piece count is low for the price. Is it good value for money?

Accepted Answer

You're paying a bit of a premium for the "mash-up" concept and the exclusive minifigures, not just the brick count. If you're after raw piece value, a larger single-ship set might be better. However, if you love the idea of building *both* an X-wing and a TIE Fighter in one box, or want those unique characters, most fans agree it’s a worthwhile and very fun purchase. Think of it as paying for the clever design and play flexibility.
