Question 1

Is this pencil set suitable for someone who has never drawn before?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely! This set is specifically celebrated by beginners on platforms like TikTok and Reddit for being the perfect starting point. It gives you a complete toolkit to experiment with different shading techniques (from light 4H to very dark 12B) without a big financial commitment. Many new artists mention it helped them learn pencil grades and build confidence.

Question 2

How durable are the pencils, especially the softer ones for dark shading?

Accepted Answer

The pencils perform well for general sketching and learning. However, a common note from users is that the cores in the softest pencils (like 8B or 12B) can be brittle if you apply excessive pressure. For smooth, dark shading, it's best to use a gentle, layered approach rather than pressing down hard. The included extender helps you use pencil stubs, though some reviews mention its fit can be a bit loose.

Question 3

What's the real quality of the accessories like the erasers, sharpener, and case?

Accepted Answer

Think of the accessories as functional bonuses that complete the starter kit. The kneaded and vinyl erasers work effectively for corrections and highlights. The sharpener gets the job done, though some heavy users prefer a standalone model for a perfect point. The case is a basic zippered pouch—it organizes everything neatly, but don't expect a hard-shell, professional portfolio case. The value is in the comprehensive range of pencils.

Question 4

I've seen mixed reviews about quality. Is there a risk of getting a defective set?

Accepted Answer

The vast majority of customers are highly satisfied, as reflected in the 4.8-star average. The mixed reviews typically point to occasional inconsistencies, like a single warped pencil or a tight-fitting extender. While not the norm, it's a possibility with any mass-produced art supply. We recommend checking your set upon arrival. Our customer service team is ready to assist if any component is genuinely faulty.

Question 5

Should I buy this, or spend more on a brand like Faber-Castell or Prismacolor?

Accepted Answer

It depends on your goals. If you're exploring art, want to try different techniques, or need a cost-effective set for practice and studies, the MARCO set offers outstanding value. If you are a working professional, advanced student, or require guaranteed archival quality and maximum durability for finished pieces, investing in a premium brand from the start may be better. This set is the ideal "test drive" before a bigger investment.
