Question 1

I have extremely sensitive skin/eczema. Is this detergent likely to cause a reaction?

Accepted Answer

Molly's Suds is specifically formulated for sensitive skin and is a top-recommended brand in online communities for those with eczema. Its minimalist, fragrance-free formula avoids common irritants like dyes, synthetic perfumes, and harsh surfactants. Many grateful users report it eliminated itching and rashes caused by mainstream detergents. As with any new product, we recommend testing it on a few items first.

Question 2

Does it work well in high-efficiency (HE) washers and cold water?

Accepted Answer

Yes, it is HE-compatible and effective in cold water. For optimal dissolution in cold cycles, ensure you place the powder directly in the drum with your clothes, not in the detergent drawer. A few users on social media noted that using a slightly warmer water setting (like warm/cold) can eliminate any rare residue, but most find it works perfectly in cold water when added correctly.

Question 3

How does it handle tough stains like grass, grease, or blood?

Accepted Answer

For everyday laundry and light stains, Molly's Suds is highly effective. However, for deep-set, greasy, or protein-based stains, users on platforms like Reddit often recommend a simple pre-treatment for best results. Many loyal customers pair it with a dedicated stain remover like OxiClean or Puracy for those challenging loads, finding the combination perfect for keeping clothes clean and skin happy.

Question 4

Is it safe for septic systems and environmentally friendly?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely. It is a top choice for eco-conscious consumers. The formula is biodegradable, plant-derived, and free from phosphates and optical brighteners, making it safe for septic systems and greywater use. The packaging is also plastic-free. The simple ingredients list aligns with a low-waste, non-toxic lifestyle, which is a major benefit highlighted in many reviews.

Question 5

The bag says 120 loads. Is that accurate for a large family?

Accepted Answer

The 120-load count is based on using one level scoop for a standard, normally soiled load. For larger or heavily soiled loads, you may need slightly more. Families with high laundry volume appreciate its concentration but note that the cost-per-load is higher than conventional bulk detergents. The value comes from its skin-friendly and eco-friendly credentials. If you're primarily seeking the lowest cost per load, a mainstream brand may be more economical.
