Question 1

Is 200mg too strong for someone new to L-Theanine? Should I start with a lower dose?

Accepted Answer

While 200mg is a robust dose, it's generally well-tolerated and is the "sweet spot" many users, including beginners, find effective for relaxation and focus. However, if you're particularly sensitive to supplements, you can easily open the capsule and mix half (approx. 100mg) into a cold, non-acidic drink like water or smoothie. Many Reddit users suggest starting this way to assess your response before taking the full capsule.

Question 2

I have trouble swallowing large pills. How big are these capsules?

Accepted Answer

The double-strength 200mg capsules are larger than a standard supplement pill. This is a common note in user reviews. If you find large capsules challenging, you can opt for the method mentioned above: open the capsule and mix the pure powder into a beverage. The powder has a mild, slightly sweet flavor that's easily masked.

Question 3

How does Nutricost L-Theanine compare to more expensive brands or "Suntheanine"?

Accepted Answer

Nutricost uses a high-quality, pure form of L-Theanine. "Suntheanine" is a patented, clinically-studied form that some brands use, often at a higher price point. While Suntheanine has specific research behind it, the consensus from detailed user testimonials across platforms is that this Nutricost version delivers virtually identical effects for relaxation and sleep support, making it a top choice for value. The key differentiator for many buyers is the exceptional cost-per-serving of this 240-count bottle.

Question 4

What can I realistically expect to feel, and how long does it take to work?

Accepted Answer

Manage your expectations: this is not a sedative. Users describe a subtle but noticeable sense of "calm alertness" or a quieting of mental chatter, often within 30-45 minutes. It's famous for taking the edge off caffeine jitters or easing the transition into sleep without grogginess. As one TikTok reviewer put it, "It doesn't make you sleepy; it makes you *okay* with being sleepy." Effects can be cumulative, with consistent use over days enhancing sleep quality.

Question 5

What is your return policy if it doesn't work for me?

Accepted Answer

We stand by our products. If you are not satisfied with your Nutricost L-Theanine, please contact our customer support team directly through the retailer where you purchased it (like Amazon) or via the Nutricost website for assistance with returns or refunds, subject to the terms of the retailer's policy. We recommend giving it a fair trial of 1-2 weeks to gauge its effects on your routine.
