Question 1

Will this pouch fit my phone if I have a bulky protective case on it?

Accepted Answer

It fits most phones with slim to moderate cases, but thick Otterbox-style armor cases may feel snug. The pouch measures roughly 8.5 x 5 inches. Many users on TikTok recommend removing big cases first for an easier seal and better touchscreen response. If you're planning to take photos underwater, we actually suggest taking the phone out of its case entirely to reduce trapping air bubbles.

Question 2

Can I still use my touchscreen and take clear photos underwater?

Accepted Answer

Yes, but with some caveats. The touchscreen works through the membrane, but you'll need to press a bit harder—especially if your fingers are wet. For photos, the biggest complaint we see is air bubbles getting trapped in front of the camera lens. The trick is to press the pouch flat against your phone's screen and squeeze out all air before sealing. Even then, expect some quality loss compared to a dedicated underwater camera.

Question 3

Does this pouch actually float with a large phone like an iPhone Pro Max?

Accepted Answer

Yes, it's designed to float and has been tested with phones up to 7 inches tall. That said, the buoyancy depends on the air trapped inside the pouch. Make sure you seal it with a small pocket of air, not fully vacuumed. Multiple Reddit users confirmed their Samsung S22 Ultra and iPhone 14 Pro Max stayed afloat during pool and ocean use, but the lanyard clip has been known to snap under sudden jerks, so avoid swinging the pouch like a pendulum.

Question 4

Is the "Marine Waterproof" rating legit for snorkeling or dropping the phone in the ocean?

Accepted Answer

The pouch is rated IP68, which means it's fully dust-tight and can handle submersion up to 30-60 minutes at depths of about 3 feet. Real-world use from cruise ship travelers shows it holds up well against splashes, rainy days, and accidental drops in shallow water. For serious snorkeling where you're actively diving down, we'd recommend testing the seal in a bowl of water at home first—and dry the seal strip completely each time before closing. Sand and salt crystals can compromise the seal over time.

Question 5

Is this really worth buying as a two-pack, or should I just get one premium pouch?

Accepted Answer

If you're a solo traveler or need the best possible touchscreen performance, you might prefer a single premium pouch from JOTO or Mpow. But for couples, families, or anyone who wants a spare in case one gets damaged, the Pelican two-pack offers great value. The pouches are also handy for storing cash, cards, and keys while at the beach. Just keep expectations realistic: this is a solid *insurance tool* for your phone, not a replacement for a waterproof camera or a heavy-duty diving case.
