Question 1

I'm new to darts. What weight should I choose, and are these suitable for beginners?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely! These are one of the most recommended sets for new players. For beginners, a mid-weight dart like 22g or 24g is often the easiest to control as you develop your throw. The Javelin grip provides excellent stability without being overly aggressive. As many YouTube reviewers note, the value and performance you get from these tungsten barrels make them a perfect starting point.

Question 2

How durable are the included stems and flights?

Accepted Answer

The tungsten barrels are built to last, but feedback from players on Reddit and in reviews consistently points out that the included plastic stems and standard flights are the most likely parts to need replacement first. They're great to get you started, but if you play frequently, consider them consumables. Many users happily pair these excellent barrels with more durable aftermarket stems and flights for a long-term setup.

Question 3

Is the grip uncomfortable or does it damage your fingers?

Accepted Answer

The Javelin's ringed grip is designed for control, not comfort at the expense of performance. Most users find it very secure without being harsh. If you have particularly sensitive fingers, you might feel some texture during long sessions, but it's not known to cause damage. The grip is a key reason these darts are praised for their "hold" in the hand.

Question 4

What if I don't like the weight I ordered? Can I return them?

Accepted Answer

Yes, Red Dragon offers a return policy for unused items in original packaging. However, to avoid the hassle, we recommend checking your current preference if possible. A common tip from social media is to try holding different weighted objects in a throwing motion. Remember, 20g is lighter/faster, 26g is heavier/steadier, with 22g and 24g being the most versatile middle ground.

Question 5

How do these compare to more expensive brands? Should I just spend more?

Accepted Answer

The Javelins are celebrated for punching above their weight class. While premium brands offer advanced machining, specific grip styles, and often higher-grade tungsten, the consensus is that for most recreational and league players, the Javelin provides 90% of the performance at a fraction of the cost. It's an outstanding first step into quality tungsten darts. If your budget is tight, start here. If you have more to spend and know your exact preferences, you can explore higher-end models.
