Question 1

Will this fan fit my existing roof vent, or do I need to cut a new opening?

Accepted Answer

The VEVOR 12-inch fan is designed to fit standard roof openings, but you may need to adjust the cutout size depending on your vent brand. It does not come with a universal adapter plate, so measure your existing hole diameter—most users report success with 12x12 or 14x14 rough openings. If you’re replacing an older fan, check the mounting hole spacing before ordering.

Question 2

How much sun does it need to work well, and does it run at night?

Accepted Answer

This is a solar-direct fan—it only runs when the sun is shining on its panel. For best performance (near 1300 CFM), it needs at least 4–6 hours of direct, unobstructed sunlight per day. It won’t run at night or in heavy shade. Many TikTok users recommend pairing it with a small battery or DC timer if you need evening ventilation.

Question 3

Is it quiet enough for a home with bedrooms on the top floor?

Accepted Answer

On low to moderate sun, it’s noticeably quieter than most electric attic fans—you’ll hear a gentle airflow hum, not a loud motor. At peak output (full sun, hot roof), the fan speeds up and the sound rises to about 45–50 dB, similar to a bathroom exhaust fan. Placing it away from bedrooms helps.

Question 4

What’s the return policy if it doesn’t fit my roof or doesn’t work as expected?

Accepted Answer

VEVOR offers a 30-day return window for unused or defective items, but you’ll need to cover return shipping unless the unit arrived damaged. Some buyers have reported slower-than-average refund processing, so keep your tracking number and take photos of the box before opening. For installation issues, check local hardware stores for adapter kits.

Question 5

Is this better than a traditional electric attic fan, and who should avoid buying it?

Accepted Answer

It’s a great choice if you want zero electricity costs and have a sunny, south-facing roof—perfect for DIYers, garage workshops, or off-grid cabins. Avoid it if your roof is shaded by trees or neighbors’ buildings, or if you need 24/7 ventilation. In those cases, a hybrid solar fan with battery backup or a standard AC unit would perform more consistently.
