Question 1

Is the 4000V safe to use around kids or pets?

Accepted Answer

The mesh grid carries a high voltage and can produce a noticeable spark if touched. While the zap is generally safe (the current is very low), it can startle or frighten children and pets. Many parents on social media recommend keeping it out of reach and using it only in well-lit areas where you can see the target clearly. For households with small children, a covered mesh design or wall-mounted zapper may be a better alternative.

Question 2

How effective is the LED light for attracting bugs in dark rooms?

Accepted Answer

The built-in LED is helpful for spotting insects in dim corners but doesn’t function as a powerful bug attractant on its own. Several TikTok users mentioned they needed to turn off all other lights for the LED to make any noticeable difference. For best results, use the light as a visual guide rather than relying on it to lure bugs. If you’re camping or in a very dark space, you may want to supplement with a brighter flashlight.

Question 3

How long does the battery last and how do I know when it's charging?

Accepted Answer

A full charge takes about 3–4 hours and typically provides 1–2 weeks of casual use (around 30–40 swings). The racket has a small red indicator light that turns on during charging and goes off when fully charged. Some users on Reddit noted that the indicator can be hard to see in bright daylight, so plug it in near a power strip in a shaded area. If you notice the zap weakening after a month, the battery may need replacement.

Question 4

Can I return it if it breaks within a month?

Accepted Answer

Yes, most sellers (including Amazon) accept returns within 30 days if the product is defective or stops working. Several reviews mention that the racket head can separate from the handle after repeated use—this qualifies as a manufacturing defect. Before returning, try charging it fully and testing again. If it still doesn’t work, open a return request and include a brief description (e.g., "mesh detached" or "battery won’t hold charge"). Some users also reported that the seller offered a replacement without needing a full refund.

Question 5

Who is this racket best suited for—and when should I look for something else?

Accepted Answer

This YISSVIC model is ideal for light, occasional use: swatting mosquitoes, gnats, and fruit flies indoors, on a patio, or in a dorm room. It’s lightweight and affordable, making it a great starter racket. However, if you’re dealing with heavy fly infestations, camping in bug-heavy areas, or want something that will survive daily swinging for months, consider a sturdier brand like Zap-It or a wall-mounted zapper from Flowtron. Many long-time users on social media say the YISSVIC is a "good backup racket" but not their main solution.
