Question 1

I have an Android phone. Is this compatible?

Accepted Answer

No, it is not. The KeySmart SmartCard (Gen 2) is exclusively certified for and works only with Apple's Find My network. This is a common point of confusion. If you use an Android or Samsung device, you will want to look for a tracker compatible with Tile or Google's Find My Device network instead.

Question 2

How thin is it really, and will it make my wallet bulge?

Accepted Answer

Its ultra-thin design is its most praised feature. It's about as thick as 2-3 credit cards. Most users on social media report it fits perfectly in a standard wallet slot without creating an noticeable bulge, making it ideal for minimalist wallets and cardholders.

Question 3

What's the actual range, and how does it work if my item is far away?

Accepted Answer

For direct Bluetooth tracking (when you're nearby), the range is typically up to 30-50 feet. If your lost item is further away, it uses the vast, encrypted Apple Find My network. Any nearby Apple device can anonymously detect its signal and update its location on the map. So, while it's not a live GPS with satellite tracking, its effectiveness grows with the density of Apple devices in the area.

Question 4

How long does the battery last, and how do I know when to recharge it?

Accepted Answer

The rechargeable battery lasts approximately 6-12 months on a single charge for most users. A key tip from reviewers is to periodically check the Find My app, where a "Low Battery" status will eventually appear under the item's details. It's a good habit to charge it every 6 months or so to avoid it unexpectedly powering down.

Question 5

Is it durable enough for daily use in a back pocket?

Accepted Answer

It's designed for daily carry, but its slim profile means it's not indestructible. The majority of users have no issues, but some on forums have reported cracks if sat on repeatedly or subjected to hard bends. For ultimate peace of mind, consider using it in a protected card slot or for items like luggage and passports that see less direct physical stress.
