Question 1

Are these markers truly permanent and waterproof on surfaces like rocks and glass?

Accepted Answer

Yes, once fully cured (which can take up to 24 hours), the acrylic paint becomes permanent and waterproof on non-porous surfaces like glass, ceramic, and rocks. For porous surfaces like wood, applying a sealant after painting is recommended for ultimate durability. A common tip from users is to let your project cure for a full day before getting it wet.

Question 2

I've heard paint markers can clog easily. How do I prevent that with this set?

Accepted Answer

Proper storage is key! Always store the markers horizontally with the caps tightly sealed. Before each use, shake the marker vigorously for 20-30 seconds with the cap on, then press the tip gently on a scrap paper until the paint flows smoothly. Many TikTok crafters show this "priming" step in their tutorials to keep markers working perfectly.

Question 3

How do these compare to more expensive brands like Posca?

Accepted Answer

These are an excellent, budget-friendly entry point. They offer fantastic vibrancy and variety for hobbyists and beginners. The main difference noted by users is that premium brands may offer slightly better one-coat opacity on dark surfaces and more consistent flow straight out of the package. For casual crafting, rock painting, or learning, this set provides tremendous value.

Question 4

Can I use them on fabric, and will it survive washing?

Accepted Answer

They can be used on fabric, but for a permanent result that survives washing, you must heat-set the paint. After your design dries completely, iron it on the reverse side (cotton setting) for 3-5 minutes, or tumble dry on high for 30 minutes. Without this step, the paint will wash out. For dedicated, frequent fabric projects, specific fabric paint markers might be more convenient.

Question 5

What's the best way to get smooth, opaque coverage, especially on dark surfaces?

Accepted Answer

For the best coverage, apply 2-3 thin, even layers, allowing each layer to dry for a few minutes in between. Trying to cover a dark surface in one thick coat can lead to streaking. Users on crafting subreddits also recommend using a white base layer first if you're painting on black or dark-colored rocks or wood. The dual tips are great for this—use the chisel side to block in color and the fine tip for details.
