Question 1

Is this a true surge protector for my old, ungrounded outlets?

Accepted Answer

It provides 1680 joules of surge protection, which offers a basic level of safety against minor power fluctuations. However, as many tech-savvy users on forums point out, for a *truly* ungrounded (2-prong) outlet system, a complete surge protection path to ground is limited. Think of it as excellent protection for small appliances and electronics from everyday spikes, but for expensive equipment like gaming PCs in an ungrounded home, a dedicated UPS is often recommended.

Question 2

How fast are the USB charging ports?

Accepted Answer

The 3 USB ports are standard charging ports, not fast-charging. They're perfect for reliably charging phones, e-readers, or Bluetooth speakers overnight. If you need to quickly charge a tablet or use fast-charge protocols, you'll want to use your device's original wall adapter in one of the AC outlets. Many TikTok reviewers specifically mention they use the USBs for convenience, not speed.

Question 3

Can I plug in large power adapters (like for a router or laptop) side-by-side?

Accepted Answer

The outlet spacing is standard. While you can use all 5 outlets with regular plugs, using two or more large "wall wart" adapters may block adjacent slots. It's a common consideration with compact strips. If your setup involves several bulky adapters, you might only get 3 or 4 usable outlets at a time.

Question 4

Is this safe to use in my kitchen or with appliances like a coffee maker?

Accepted Answer

Yes, it's a popular solution for kitchens! The polarized plug (one wider blade) is a key safety feature that helps ensure proper electrical flow, making it safer than basic, non-polarized adapters for small to medium kitchen appliances. Reddit users in older apartments often praise it for this exact use. We don't recommend using it with high-wattage appliances like space heaters or air conditioners.

Question 5

Who is this product really best for?

Accepted Answer

It's an ideal, value-packed solution for anyone dealing with a shortage of outlets, especially in older buildings with ungrounded two-prong sockets. Our most satisfied customers are renters in pre-1980s homes, college students in dorms, and people looking to declutter a kitchen counter or home office. It solves the specific problem of getting more, safer power from an outdated outlet.
