Question 1

Is the "20 Bars of Pressure" marketing accurate for making real espresso?

Accepted Answer

While the pump is rated for 20 bars, it's a vibratory pump common in this price range. The actual pressure at the coffee puck is lower and pulses. As many online reviewers note, this is perfectly capable of making good espresso for milk-based drinks, but espresso purists seeking perfect, consistent extraction might be disappointed. It's a great entry point to learn, but manage expectations against professional machines.

Question 2

I'm a complete beginner. Is this machine easy to learn and use?

Accepted Answer

There is a learning curve, as with most semi-automatic machines. The instructions are basic, so many new users turn to online videos for help with grinding, tamping, and switching modes. The consensus is that it takes some practice (a week or so of trial and error) to dial in, but it's a rewarding process for those willing to learn. If you want a completely push-button experience, a pod machine may be more suitable.

Question 3

How is the build quality and durability? Should I expect it to last?

Accepted Answer

Reviews are mixed. Most users are happy with the build for the price, praising its solid stainless steel housing. However, some report that certain components (like the portafilter handle or steam wand) can feel less robust and may become loose over time. It's widely seen as an excellent *first* machine or a great value for occasional use, but those seeking a decade-long investment might consider a more established brand.

Question 4

What's the real catch with such an affordable espresso machine?

Accepted Answer

The main trade-offs for the low price are capacity and convenience. The 1.2L water tank and small drip tray, as mentioned in several TikTok tutorials, require frequent refilling and emptying if you're making more than 2-3 drinks in a row. It's perfect for 1-2 people but can be fiddly for entertaining a group. You're trading some convenience for the low entry cost.

Question 5

Who is this coffee machine most suitable for?

Accepted Answer

The Cecotec Cafelizzia 790 is a perfect fit for budget-minded beginners or students wanting to upgrade from pod machines or a moka pot to a "real" espresso machine without a huge investment. It's ideal for small kitchens and for those who enjoy mostly lattes and cappuccinos. If your primary goal is bulletproof durability, large daily capacity, or espresso perfection, you may want to look at higher-end entry-level models.
