Question 1

The ad says 40 minutes of autonomy—does that include max mode?

Accepted Answer

Great question! The 40-minute runtime is for standard suction mode with a non-motorized tool. On “Max” power, you’ll get about 7–8 minutes. Many TikTok reviewers note that for daily quick cleans (hard floors, low-pile carpet) on standard mode, the battery easily lasts through a small apartment. If you need extended run time on high power, consider the Dyson V15, which offers a more gradual power adjustment.

Question 2

I have long hair and a shedding cat. Will the anti-tangle brush actually stay tangle-free?

Accepted Answer

Yes, it’s a big improvement over older Dyson models. The Motorbar brush bar is designed to cut and collect hair before it wraps around the roller. Users with long hair or pets report it reduces tangles by at least 80%, but you still may need to snip off a few strands every few weeks. It’s much less of a chore than with standard brush bars.

Question 3

Can I buy a spare battery to extend my cleaning session?

Accepted Answer

Yes—the battery is fully removable and replaceable. Many users keep a spare battery charged so they can swap mid-clean for longer sessions. Note that the V8 Advanced uses a different battery than newer Dyson models (like the V15), so make sure you order the V8-compatible spare directly from Dyson or an authorized retailer.

Question 4

Is this vacuum very loud? I have a baby who naps during the day.

Accepted Answer

It’s louder than many stick vacuums—especially on max mode—measuring around 75–80 dB. Several parents on Reddit mention it can wake a light sleeper if used in the same room. For quiet cleaning, try standard mode during nap times, or consider a quieter model like the LG CordZero A9, which users say has a more subdued hum.

Question 5

The wall mount installation seems complicated. Do I have to use it?

Accepted Answer

Not at all! The included wall mount is optional. Many users simply store the vacuum in a corner with the charging cable plugged directly into the unit. If you do want to mount it, pre-drill with a masonry bit if you’re on tile or brick—some reviewers found the included screws too short for certain wall materials. Third-party free-standing docks are also available if you prefer no drilling.
