Question 1

Are Energizer 123 batteries the same as CR123A batteries?

Accepted Answer

Yes, they are identical. "123" is essentially Energizer's shorthand for the standard CR123A lithium battery size and chemistry. You can confidently use these in any device that specifies CR123A, such as high-performance flashlights, security systems, and digital cameras.

Question 2

I've heard concerns about counterfeit batteries. How can I ensure I'm getting authentic Energizer products?

Accepted Answer

This is a valid concern noted in online communities. To guarantee authenticity, purchase from authorized retailers like major electronics stores or directly from trusted online sellers. Be wary of deals that seem too good to be true from unknown third-party vendors. Authentic Energizer batteries have precise printing, consistent build quality, and secure packaging.

Question 3

What are the main advantages of these over regular alkaline batteries?

Accepted Answer

These 3V lithium batteries excel in specific scenarios where alkalines fall short: they have a 10-year shelf life (perfect for emergency kits), perform reliably in extreme temperatures, and provide consistent, high power for demanding devices like tactical lights and professional equipment. For everyday remotes, alkaline AA batteries are more cost-effective.

Question 4

How long do they typically last in a high-drain device like a bright flashlight?

Accepted Answer

Runtime varies significantly based on your device's power draw. In a high-lumen flashlight, you might get 1-2 hours of continuous use on max brightness. Many outdoor enthusiasts on forums like Reddit appreciate them for their strong, stable output which doesn't dim as quickly as alkalines, but they recommend having spares for extended trips.

Question 5

Are these a good value for money, and who are they really best for?

Accepted Answer

Their value is in performance, not low price. They are a premium power source best suited for critical or high-drain applications. They are ideal for:
* Safety & Preparedness: Smoke/CO alarms and emergency kits (thanks to the long shelf life).
* Serious Hobbies: High-performance flashlights, photography equipment, and specialty electronics.
* Professional Use: Security sensors and devices where reliability is non-negotiable.
If your device doesn't require this level of power or shelf life, a standard battery may be a better value.
