Question 1

I’ve heard the scroll wheel can get jumpy over time. Is this true, and is there a fix?

Accepted Answer

Some long-term users have reported the hyper-fast scroll wheel becoming inconsistent after several months of heavy use. However, this is not universal. If you experience it, try recalibrating the wheel by holding down the toggle button for 5 seconds, or check for firmware updates in the Logitech Options+ software. For most users, it remains very reliable for daily browsing.

Question 2

I use a Mac and an iPad. Will switching between them with the Flow software actually work?

Accepted Answer

Yes, it works well for basic cursor movement and copy-paste, but setup requires a slight learning curve. You must install Logitech Options+ on both the Mac and PC, and have both devices connected to the same Wi-Fi network. Bluetooth connection to the iPad is seamless—just press button "3" on the mouse. Note that Flow does not work between a Mac and an iPad directly; you must use the dedicated buttons for that switch.

Question 3

This is marketed as having a 2-year battery, but how does it hold up with real heavy daily use—like 8+ hours?

Accepted Answer

Many power users confirm the battery life is the star of the show. Even with 8-hour workdays and the scroll wheel in freespin mode, users report getting 18–24 months out of a single AA battery. It's one of the most durable battery performances in the wireless mouse category, so you likely won't need to worry about charging for the first year and a half.

Question 4

I’ve seen complaints about the plastic feeling cheap. Is it durable enough for a commuter or someone who travels?

Accepted Answer

The plastic is a hard matte finish that resists fingerprints well, but it is not rubberized or premium-feeling like the more expensive MX series. While it is sturdy enough to survive drops from desk height, the left and right buttons can occasionally develop a slight wobble after a year of heavy clicking. It's a solid performer for a commuter, but extremely heavy packers might want a hardshell case.

Question 5

Many reviews say the 6 buttons are programmable, but I hear the software is a problem. Can I use it without the software?

Accepted Answer

Yes, you can use it out of the box as a standard 4-button mouse (left, right, scroll, middle click) on any Bluetooth or Unifying receiver connection. However, to customize the forward/backward side buttons or to use the gesture button, you will need to install Logitech Options+. While some users find the software a bit bloated, it runs quietly in the background and offers fantastic customization for multi-window workflows.
