Question 1

Will these mitts fit larger hands, or can I wear them over gloves?

Accepted Answer

The Mokani mitts run slightly small compared to standard detailing gloves. Most users with average-to-large hands can wear them comfortably without a glove underneath, but if you have extra-large hands or plan to wear rubber gloves for cold weather, expect a snug fit. Many TikTok reviewers suggested sizing up if you’re between sizes, though no larger option currently exists. For reference, a size L nitrile glove will fit, but a thick winter glove likely won’t.

Question 2

Are these mitts truly scratch-free for all paint types?

Accepted Answer

The plush microfiber is safe for most clear coats when used with proper technique—plenty of soap and a clean bucket. However, several users noted that the “scratch-free” claim works best for light dust and maintenance washes. If you’re working on a ceramic-coated, matte, or soft black paint, we recommend using a dedicated premium mitt or testing on a small area first. A few Reddit users reported micro-marring after aggressive use on darker finishes. For peace of mind, always use the two-bucket wash method.

Question 3

How long do these mitts last before they need replacing?

Accepted Answer

Expect about 10–15 washes before the fibers begin to flatten and lose their plushness, especially if machine-dried on high heat. About one in five users reported light shedding after the third or fourth wash. To extend their life, air-dry or tumble-dry on no heat. Many YouTubers recommend swapping them every 6 months for regular weekly washes. For the price of a single specialty mitt, the two-pack offers decent rotation, but don’t expect professional-grade longevity.

Question 4

Is this a good starter mitt for someone new to hand-washing their car?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely—it’s actually the most common use case. Beginners appreciate the soft feel, the forgiving price point, and the fact that they come as a two-pack (one for washing, one for drying or wheels). The mitts hold plenty of soapy water and glide easily. Just be aware the “2 sets” in the title refers to two mitts plus a storage bag, not two pairs. If you’re just starting out and want to avoid scratches on your daily driver, these are a solid, low-risk entry point.

Question 5

What’s the return policy if the mitts don’t meet expectations?

Accepted Answer

Mokani offers a standard 30-day return window through Amazon (where most customers purchase), though a few buyers noted that returns may require covering return shipping. The company has been responsive to fit or defect complaints, but some reports mention a longer processing time for refunds. For best results, inspect the mitts immediately upon arrival—wash them once to remove the initial chemical odor, and if you notice excessive shedding or poor fit, initiate your return within the first week. A handful of TikTok users recommended reaching out to the seller directly via Amazon chat for faster resolution.
