Question 1

How quickly does this heater warm up a room, and is it truly silent?

Accepted Answer

As an oil-filled radiator, it provides radiant heat that builds steadily. You'll feel warmth near the unit within 15-20 minutes, but evenly heating a large room can take an hour or more. The major benefit, as countless users on Reddit and review sites note, is its near-silent operation. There's no fan, so it's perfect for bedrooms, nurseries, or home offices where noise is a concern. You may hear faint clicks as the metal expands and contracts, which is completely normal.

Question 2

Is it safe to leave on overnight or around children and pets?

Accepted Answer

Yes, its design prioritizes safety for unsupervised use. It includes essential safety features like automatic tip-over protection and overheat protection. The exterior panels stay much cooler than ceramic fan heaters, reducing burn risk. However, as with any heater, it's always recommended to maintain a clear space around it (3 feet is ideal) and to plug it directly into a wall outlet, not an extension cord.

Question 3

I've seen comments about the power cord and thermostat. What should I know?

Accepted Answer

Great questions based on common user feedback. First, the power cord exits from the *side* of the unit. If you need to place it flush in a tight corner, this can be awkward. Planning your setup beforehand is key. Second, the thermostat and ECO mode work to save energy by cycling the heater on and off. Some users find this cycle can feel pronounced—the room gets warm, it shuts off, cools down, then kicks back on. For the most consistent temperature, many owners recommend using the manual settings instead of ECO mode.

Question 4

Is this heater energy-efficient, and will it significantly increase my electric bill?

Accepted Answer

Oil-filled radiators are generally efficient because the oil retains heat well, allowing the element to cycle off frequently. At 1500W (its maximum setting), it uses the same power as any standard high-output space heater. The key to efficiency is using the thermostat and timer. By setting it to maintain a comfortable temperature (e.g., 68-70°F) and using the 24-hour timer for specific periods, you can avoid running it on high constantly, which helps manage energy costs. It's excellent for zone heating—warming the room you're in rather than your whole house.

Question 5

Who is this heater best suited for, and who might want to consider something else?

Accepted Answer

This Pelonis is ideal for someone seeking quiet, consistent, whole-room radiant heat for daily use in spaces like bedrooms, living rooms, or home offices. It's a favorite for light sleepers, parents, and those in drafty homes. You might want to consider a different type of heater if: you need instant, directional heat (a ceramic fan heater is better), have extremely limited space where the side cord is a deal-breaker, or require a very lightweight, portable option, as this unit is heavy when filled.
