Question 1

Will this phone lock work with any phone, including Android or older iPhones?

Accepted Answer

Great question! This product currently works only with iPhones running iOS 17 or later, using the ZenTag app. Android users and those with older iPhones won’t be able to use the timer features. If you don’t have a compatible device, you might want to consider a physical timed safe or a basic lockbox instead, as many users have suggested.

Question 2

Can I open the box early if I change my mind, or is the timer truly enforced?

Accepted Answer

The timer is app-enforced, meaning the ZenTag app controls when the lock releases. However, the physical box itself isn’t indestructible. While it’s designed to deter casual phone checking, some users have noted it may not stop someone determined to pry it open. For stricter enforcement, a heavy-duty timed safe might be a better fit.

Question 3

What’s the actual size? Will my iPhone 16 Pro Max or other large phone fit?

Accepted Answer

This is one of the most common concerns we’ve heard. The phone lock is compact and may not accommodate larger phones like the iPhone 16 Pro Max or Android phablets. We recommend checking the product dimensions before purchase. If you’re unsure, measure your phone’s length and width to compare. Many TikTok users have advised measuring first to avoid disappointment.

Question 4

Can I use this without the app, just as a simple lockbox?

Accepted Answer

No, the phone lock is designed to work exclusively with the ZenTag app. Without it, you won’t be able to set timers or unlock it. If you’re looking for a simple, no-app physical lockbox, you might find a basic timed safe more practical. The app adds features like distraction blocking, but it’s a double-edged sword if you prefer analog solutions.

Question 5

What happens if the app crashes or my phone battery dies while the timer is running?

Accepted Answer

This is a valid worry, and we appreciate the caution. The design relies on the app staying active for accurate timing. If the app crashes or your phone dies mid-timer, the lock may remain engaged until the app can reconnect. We recommend testing the product during a short timer first to see how it behaves. Many productivity enthusiasts have mentioned turning on low-power mode before starting their focus session to minimize risks.
