Question 1

Is the scale accurate, and does it stay accurate over time?

Accepted Answer

The RENPHO Core 1S is widely praised for its high precision right out of the box, with many users confirming it matches weights from doctor's office scales. For long-term accuracy, it's recommended to place it on a hard, flat surface and avoid moving it frequently. Some users note that recalibrating it (by briefly stepping on and off to let it reset to zero) every few months helps maintain consistency, which is a common practice for digital scales in this price range.

Question 2

Do I need to use the smartphone app, or can I just use it as a basic scale?

Accepted Answer

You can absolutely use it as a standalone, basic scale without ever downloading the app! It works perfectly with just the included batteries, displaying your weight on the bright LED screen. The free app is optional and unlocks additional metrics like body fat percentage, but many happy customers, as seen in reviews, use and love it purely for its simple, accurate weight readings.

Question 3

How durable is the glass top, and is it slippery?

Accepted Answer

The tempered glass top is designed for durability in normal household use. However, due to its sleek design, it can be slippery with wet feet. We recommend placing it on a dry, level floor and stepping on with care post-shower. For added safety, a thin bathmat in front of the scale is a popular user hack. Avoid dropping heavy objects on it to prevent cracking.

Question 4

I've heard about Bluetooth and app issues. What should I expect?

Accepted Answer

While the scale's core weighing function is highly reliable, some users on forums like Reddit have experienced occasional sync delays or connectivity hiccups with the companion app. For the best app experience, ensure your phone's Bluetooth is on and close to the scale during your first setup. Most data syncs quickly, but if you're primarily interested in weight tracking, the scale itself performs flawlessly without the app.

Question 5

Is this scale good for a household with multiple users?

Accepted Answer

Yes, it's an excellent choice for households! The scale itself doesn't recognize users, but the optional RENPHO app does. Up to 8 different people can create profiles, and the app will automatically recognize and sync data to the correct profile based on weight differentials. As a simple weight scale, anyone can step on and get an instant reading—no setup needed for basic use.
