Question 1

Is this router overkill for my apartment and 300 Mbps internet plan?

Accepted Answer

Many users on social media have noted that if you don't have gigabit+ internet or many Wi-Fi 7 devices, a high-end Wi-Fi 6 router may offer better value. The BE9300 shines when fully utilizing its speed, so for a 300 Mbps plan in a smaller space, it's likely more power than you need.

Question 2

Does it really cover a full 2,000 sq. ft. home without dead zones?

Accepted Answer

While many users achieve excellent coverage, real-world performance depends on your home's layout and construction. Some Reddit users in multi-story or densely-walled homes have reported needing to strategically place the router or use the EasyMesh feature for complete coverage. For the most reliable whole-home signal in large spaces, planning for a potential mesh node is a good idea.

Question 3

I'm not tech-savvy. Is the setup actually easy?

Accepted Answer

Yes! This is one of the most praised features. The TP-Link Tether app guides you through a very simple plug-and-play setup in minutes, which TikTok and YouTube reviewers consistently highlight. The basics are effortless, though diving into advanced settings like VPN may require more technical comfort.

Question 4

Are there any common issues I should be aware of?

Accepted Answer

As an early Wi-Fi 7 product, some early adopters reported occasional firmware bugs, like specific devices having trouble with the 6GHz band. TP-Link has been issuing updates to address these. The router can also run warm, so ensure it's in a well-ventilated spot. Overall, feedback suggests stability improves significantly after the initial setup period and updates.

Question 5

How does this compare to an ASUS or Netgear router at this price?

Accepted Answer

The Archer BE550 is often praised for its user-friendly app and value-for-money Wi-Fi 7 specs. Compared to similarly priced ASUS or Netgear models, it typically offers a simpler user experience but may have fewer granular, pro-level networking controls. If easy setup and core performance are your priorities, it's a strong choice. If you love to tweak every advanced setting, you might compare models like the ASUS RT-BE88U.
