Question 1

I plugged these into my phone/laptop and they sound quiet and muddy. Is something wrong?

Accepted Answer

You're not alone — many Reddit users noticed the same thing. The Zero:BLUE2 benefits significantly from a dedicated DAC or dongle, as their impedance and driver design can be underpowered by standard headphone jacks. For best results, pair them with even a basic USB-C DAC (like the Apple dongle or a similar $10–20 adapter). This is common for higher-end IEMs and will unlock their true clarity and bass detail.

Question 2

I have small ears. Will these fit comfortably?

Accepted Answer

Be aware that the Zero:BLUE2 has a larger-than-average nozzle and shell. Many YouTube reviewers and TikTok users with smaller ear canals report discomfort after about 30 minutes. If you have small ears, we recommend trying aftermarket eartips (like SpinFit CP100+ or Moondrop Spring Tips) for a better seal and reduced pressure. If fit is a primary concern, some users prefer the smaller-shelled 7Hz Salnotes Zero as an alternative.

Question 3

Are these good for competitive gaming, especially hearing footsteps?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely. The Zero:BLUE2 is praised across gaming forums for its exceptional imaging and soundstage, making it a favorite for FPS games like Valorant, CS2, and Apex Legends. The dual dynamic drivers deliver punchy gunshots without masking subtle footsteps. Many gamers on Reddit call it "the best sub-$100 IEM for gaming" as long as you use them with a DAC.

Question 4

Does the stock cable cause noise when moving around? Can I upgrade it?

Accepted Answer

The included 3.5mm cable is functional but slightly stiff, and some users note microphonics (rubbing noise) when it touches clothing. The good news is that the 2-pin 0.78mm connector is standard, so you can easily swap it for a braided or balanced cable. Many users on TikTok recommend the Tripowin Zonie or NiceHCK BlackStick for a more comfortable, tangle-free experience, including 4.4mm balanced options.

Question 5

What's the difference between this and the original Zero:RED, and which should I buy?

Accepted Answer

The Zero:BLUE2 is a collab with Crinacle that focuses on a slightly more "fun" but still balanced tuning, with enhanced mid-bass and treble sparkle for detail. The Zero:RED is warmer and smoother, making it less fatiguing for long listening sessions. If you prioritize analytical gaming precision and don't mind a brighter treble, choose the BLUE2. If you prefer relaxed music listening and are treble-sensitive, the RED is often the safer pick. Both require a DAC for full performance.
