Question 1

Will this UGREEN extension cable work with my PS5 or Switch controller?

Accepted Answer

It depends on your controller’s jack. This cable uses a TRRS (4-pole) connector, which is common on smartphones and PCs. Most standard console controllers (PS5, Xbox, Switch) only support TRS (3-pole) connections. If you plug it directly, you may hear audio in only one side or get no sound at all. For full compatibility, you’ll need a separate TRRS-to-TRS adapter. Many TikTok users have shared this tip to avoid the same frustration.

Question 2

Why does the cable make a scratching noise when I move?

Accepted Answer

That’s called microphonics, and it’s a common trade-off with nylon braided cables. The braided material transmits vibration more than rubber or silicone. This is most noticeable when you’re walking, running, or rubbing against a jacket. For static use (e.g., at a desk), you likely won’t hear it. If cable noise is a dealbreaker, some Reddit users suggest using a cable clip or switching to a silicone-covered cable.

Question 3

Is the cable really 1 meter long?

Accepted Answer

The length is measured from the base of each connector, including the molded strain relief. The actual usable cable length (between plug tips) is closer to 0.95 meters. This is standard for most audio cables in this category. If you need a full 1 meter of slack for routing behind furniture, consider the 1.5M version to be safe.

Question 4

The plug feels loose in my headphone jack – will it fall out?

Accepted Answer

The metal connector is designed for a snug, universal fit, but some devices have slightly recessed or shallow jacks. If you feel wobble, it’s worth checking dust or debris in the port. A few users on YouTube noted that after extended use, the connector can loosen slightly. If you’re having issues early on, contact UGREEN support – they typically offer a hassle-free replacement within the warranty period.

Question 5

Can I use this cable for microphones or recording?

Accepted Answer

Yes, if your microphone uses a standard 3.5mm TRRS connection (common on lavalier mics and mobile gaming headsets). It supports both stereo audio and microphone input. However, for balanced mono microphones or professional recording gear (which often use XLR or TS plugs), this cable isn’t compatible. Check your mic’s plug type before ordering – many musicians on Reddit found this cable useful for portable podcast setups.
