Question 1

Will these 11" x 16" bags fit my vacuum sealer? I have a FoodSaver model from 2019.

Accepted Answer

Yes, these bags are designed to be universal and work with most leading home sealers, including FoodSaver, Anova, Weston, and Geryon. They are standard width and thickness. If you’ve had issues with other generic brands curling up during sealing, you’ll find these lie flat and seal consistently. As always, we recommend testing one bag first for compatibility.

Question 2

Are the included bone guards really effective for sharp bones like pork ribs or chicken drumsticks?

Accepted Answer

Many buyers tell us the bone guards are a helpful extra layer, but they aren’t a perfect shield. To prevent punctures, we suggest wrapping the bone guard tightly around the sharpest edges before vacuuming. Some users also fold a piece of butcher paper between the bag and the bone for extra protection. The guards work best for small poultry bones; for large, very sharp cuts, pat dry and double-wrap.

Question 3

Can I use these bags for sous vide cooking at high temperatures?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely. They are BPA-free, heat-safe up to 212°F (100°C), and many sous vide enthusiasts rely on them for long cooks (24–48 hours) at 140–180°F. We suggest leaving a little extra space at the top to prevent steam from pulling moisture into the seal. Just be aware: the 5 included liquid block bags are not designed for extended sous vide—save those for freezer storage instead.

Question 4

What’s the actual thickness, and how long will meat stay fresh in the freezer?

Accepted Answer

These bags are roughly 3.2–3.5 mils thick, putting them at the higher end for home-use vacuum bags. Most users report fresh meat stays good for 6–9 months without freezer burn, and sometimes up to 12 months if properly sealed and stored flat. However, for best texture and taste, we recommend consuming vacuum-sealed food within 6 months. If you see ice crystals forming, it usually means the bag wasn’t fully sealed or you had a tiny puncture.

Question 5

Are these reusable? I’d like to wash them after using for dry goods.

Accepted Answer

Definitely. Many meal preppers reuse these bags 2–3 times for non-greasy, non-raw items (like nuts, crackers, or leftover cooked rice). Wash them thoroughly with hot soapy water, dry completely, and trim the used seal edge before resealing. We don’t recommend reusing bags that held raw meat, fish, or liquid-heavy foods due to hygiene and seal integrity risks.
