Question 1

Does the Xiaomi X20+ work with Google Home or Alexa, or only the Xiaomi app?

Accepted Answer

You can control it through the Mi/Xiaomi Home app, and it integrates with both Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa for basic commands like start, stop, and return to base. Advanced features like custom no-go zones are best set up in the app itself. Many Reddit users confirm the smart home integration is reliable after the initial setup, though some note occasional re-linking after app updates.

Question 2

Can I use third-party cleaning solutions in the mop water tank?

Accepted Answer

Xiaomi recommends using only plain water or their official cleaning solution to avoid damaging the water pump or leaving residue. Several TikTok reviewers who tried third-party floor cleaners reported clogged nozzles within weeks. Stick to water for daily use, and only add a few drops of Xiaomi-approved solution if you need extra cleaning power. Using other solutions may void the warranty.

Question 3

How often do I need to replace parts like the brush, filter, and dust bag?

Accepted Answer

Based on typical usage and community feedback, expect to replace the main brush every 6–8 months, the side brush every 3–4 months, and the HEPA filter every 3–6 months depending on dust levels. The dust bag in the base station generally lasts about 4–6 weeks for a 1,500 sq ft home. A 4-pack of filters runs about $25, and Xiaomi parts are widely available on Amazon and AliExpress.

Question 4

Does it actually avoid obstacles like pet waste, or is that just marketing?

Accepted Answer

The S-Cross™ structured light does a great job avoiding furniture, walls, and shoes, but it’s not foolproof with small objects like cables, pet toys, or—yes—pet waste. The 6000Pa suction means if it does hit something soft, it’s getting messy. Many users recommend using the “turbo mode” only on short runs and keeping the floor clear of small items. For homes with pets prone to accidents, a dedicated LIDAR-based robot from Roborock or Dreame might be more reliable.

Question 5

Is the 140-minute battery accurate, or should I expect less?

Accepted Answer

The 140-minute rating is on standard suction and mop mode on hard floors without thick carpets. In real-world conditions, most users report 90–110 minutes on balanced mode, and only 60–80 minutes on max suction with mopping. For apartments under 1,000 sq ft, a single charge usually covers the whole space. For larger homes, the auto-recharge and resume feature works well—just expect a short recharge break mid-clean.
