Question 1

Does the Cotsoco KVM Switch support true 4K@60Hz with any monitor and cable?

Accepted Answer

Many users have found that 4K@60Hz works reliably only with high-quality HDMI 2.0 cables and monitors that natively support that resolution. Some reviewers noted their screen defaulted to 30Hz until they upgraded their cables. If your setup is sensitive to refresh rates, you may want to test compatibility before committing—several TikTok users mentioned this was a dealbreaker for gaming.

Question 2

Why does my monitor lose signal or flicker when I switch between PCs?

Accepted Answer

This is one of the most common frustrations reported. The switch lacks EDID emulation, meaning it doesn’t “tell” your PC to remember your monitor’s settings during a switch. This can cause brief blackouts or Windows rearranging your desktop icons. It’s more noticeable with modern monitors or high refresh rates. If you switch frequently, this could become annoying for daily workflow.

Question 3

Can I share peripherals like a printer, webcam, or wireless keyboard through the USB ports?

Accepted Answer

Yes, the USB 2.0 ports work well for basic peripherals like a keyboard, mouse, or printer. However, several reviews warn that power-hungry devices (webcams, external hard drives) may disconnect randomly. For stable webcam use during calls, a dedicated USB switch might be a better fit. The ports also don’t support USB 3.0 speeds, so large file transfers over shared drives will be slow.

Question 4

What happens if the KVM doesn’t work with my specific setup? Can I return it easily?

Accepted Answer

The return policy depends on where you purchased it. Amazon buyers generally report smooth returns within 30 days, though you’ll cover return shipping. Some users who bought from third-party sellers had more difficulty. Before buying, check the seller’s return window and whether they require original packaging. A few Reddit users noted they kept it as a backup after it didn’t work with their mixed-brand monitors.

Question 5

Who is this KVM switch best for, and who should skip it?

Accepted Answer

This switch is ideal for budget-conscious users with two identical PCs and a single monitor for occasional switching—for example, a shared home office setup. It’s not recommended for professionals who need seamless, instant switching during calls, gamers sensitive to input lag or signal drops, or anyone using different monitor brands with varying resolutions. Those users often find better reliability with brands like TESmart or Startech, even at a higher price.
