Question 1

Has the formula changed recently? I've seen comments online about a "new" version.

Accepted Answer

Cetaphil has released an updated formulation in recent years. While the core purpose—gentle, effective hydration for sensitive skin—remains, some long-time users note subtle differences in texture. The current version is still fragrance-free, non-comedogenic, and highly rated by tens of thousands for daily use. If you've used an older tub, you may notice a slightly different feel, but the vast majority of reviews confirm it continues to be a reliable, non-irritating moisturizer.

Question 2

Is this cream suitable for both my face and body, even if I have acne-prone or sensitive skin?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely. This is one of its most praised features. It's specifically formulated to be non-comedogenic (won't clog pores) and fragrance-free, making it a safe choice for the face, including for those with sensitive or acne-prone skin. Many Reddit and TikTok users in skincare communities hail it as a "holy grail" for its ability to hydrate without causing breakouts or irritation. Its non-greasy finish also makes it ideal for daytime facial use.

Question 3

How does this compare to CeraVe Moisturizing Cream? Which one should I choose?

Accepted Answer

Both are excellent, dermatologist-recommended choices. The main difference is in texture and skin feel. Cetaphil tends to have a lighter, more "whipped" consistency that absorbs quickly with a truly matte finish for most. CeraVe is often described as slightly thicker and more occlusive, containing ceramides and hyaluronic acid. A common social media insight is: if you want fast absorption with zero shine, lean Cetaphil; if you want a more protective, barrier-repair feel, lean CeraVe. Both are fragrance-free and non-comedogenic.

Question 4

I have very dry, eczema-prone skin. Will this be moisturizing enough, especially in winter?

Accepted Answer

For most with dry to very dry skin, it provides excellent hydration. However, some users with severe eczema or in extremely dry climates find they need a more occlusive product on top for all-day relief. It works brilliantly as a base layer. Many parents in online forums use it successfully for kids' mild eczema. For patches of extreme dryness, you might follow it with an ointment like Aquaphor. If your skin needs the heaviest possible cream, you may want to consider alternatives like Vanicream or a dedicated eczema cream.

Question 5

Does the 16 oz tub come with a pump? I've seen complaints about the packaging.

Accepted Answer

The 16 oz size typically does not come with a pump included. This is a frequent point of feedback. Many users purchase a separate pump lid (often universal ones from Amazon) for convenience and hygiene to avoid repeatedly dipping fingers into the tub. Some have reported issues with official pump accessories, so if you prefer a pump, looking into a reliable universal option is a popular hack mentioned across social media reviews.
