Question 1

How difficult is assembly, and can one person do it?

Accepted Answer

Most owners report that assembly is challenging and time-consuming, often taking two people 1-3 hours. The instructions can be confusing, so many recommend watching a YouTube tutorial beforehand for clarity. While a very determined solo builder can manage, having a helper is strongly advised to manage the large panels and align the axle.

Question 2

Is the 37-gallon capacity for the whole unit or per chamber?

Accepted Answer

The 37-gallon (140-liter) capacity is the total volume. The dual-chamber design splits this, giving you two approximately 18.5-gallon chambers. This allows you to have one batch curing while you actively add fresh waste to the other, which users love for continuous compost production.

Question 3

How well does it hold up, and is the recycled plastic durable?

Accepted Answer

Once assembled, the composter is notably sturdy and stable. The Canadian-made 100% recycled resin is UV-protected and designed for outdoor use. Initial impressions from some users note the panels can flex slightly, but long-term reviews consistently confirm it holds up well season after season without cracking or degrading.

Question 4

I've seen comments about door latches and pests. Is it sealed well?

Accepted Answer

Proper sealing is crucial. While the design is pest-resistant, a common note in reviews is that the chamber door latches may require careful alignment to click shut fully. Ensuring both latches are securely fastened is key to keeping insects and rodents out. If a latch isn't aligning, FCMP's customer service is frequently praised for sending replacement parts quickly.

Question 5

Who is this composter best suited for, and who might want to look elsewhere?

Accepted Answer

This tumbler is ideal for the dedicated home gardener with a small-to-medium yard who values the efficiency of a dual-chamber system and prefers a Canadian-made, recycled product. If you have significant physical limitations, need a truly one-person assembly, or compost very large volumes, you might prefer a stationary bin or investigate insulated single-chamber tumblers like the Jora models for easier tumbling.
