Question 1

Is this cream greasy, and how long does it take to absorb?

Accepted Answer

Many first-time users note it has a thick, concentrated texture that can feel slightly greasy upon application. This is by design to create a protective barrier for severely damaged skin. For most people, it absorbs fully within 2-5 minutes. A pro-tip from social media reviewers is to use a *very small amount*—a pea-sized dose is often enough for both hands—to minimize any residual feel.

Question 2

Why is it in a jar, and is there a tube version?

Accepted Answer

The jar is the original packaging for this formula. A common concern online is about hygiene with dirty hands. The good news is O'Keeffe's does offer a "Working Hands Hand Cream" in a tube, which contains a slightly different, non-greasy formula that many Reddit users prefer for its convenience and faster absorption. If you work with grime or grease, the tube might be a better fit.

Question 3

Does it sting when applied to cracked, open skin?

Accepted Answer

Yes, it's frequently mentioned in reviews that if you have deep cracks or open wounds, you may experience a temporary tingling or stinging sensation upon application. Users on platforms like TikTok often say "it stings so good," indicating this is a common sign the formula is actively working to repair the damaged skin barrier. The sensation typically subsides within a minute.

Question 4

I just have regular dry skin from winter or washing. Is this overkill for me?

Accepted Answer

Possibly. This cream is specifically engineered for *extremely* dry, cracked hands. If your dryness is mild, you might find it too heavy. Many YouTube reviewers suggest that for everyday maintenance on moderately dry skin, a lighter lotion may be more comfortable. This product shines as a targeted treatment for hands that are painful, visibly cracked, or haven't responded to other moisturizers.

Question 5

How does the scent compare to typical hand creams?

Accepted Answer

O'Keeffe's Working Hands is fragrance-free, but it does have a mild, characteristic odor from its active ingredients. Some describe it as "medicinal" or "chemical," while others don't notice it. It is not a perfumed or scented cream. If you are highly sensitive to smells or prefer a fragrant lotion, this is an important factor to consider, as it's a frequent point of discussion in customer reviews.
