Question 1

I'm worried about the condition of a renewed laptop—will this unit have scratches or worn parts?

Accepted Answer

It's a fair concern—many Reddit users mention that renewed workstations can vary in cosmetic condition. While most sellers check for functionality, light scuffs or wear on the trackpad and keyboard are possible. To be safe, look for listings that specify "Grade A" or "Excellent" condition, and check the seller's return policy before buying. Unboxing videos on YouTube can also give you a realistic idea of what to expect.

Question 2

How long does the battery last on this model, especially since it's renewed?

Accepted Answer

Battery life is a common pain point for the P15 Gen 1, even when new. On a renewed unit, expect 2–3 hours under moderate use like browsing or spreadsheets, and less under heavy load. It's worth asking the seller if the battery has been replaced or tested, and if they provide cycle count details. For longer sessions, many users keep it plugged in or swap for a high-capacity battery later.

Question 3

Is this laptop good for heavy tasks like 3D modeling, video editing, or running virtual machines?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely—the Core i7-10750H with 6 cores and 32GB of RAM handles CAD, programming, and multi-VM setups very well. Just keep in mind that the integrated graphics are basic, so heavy 3D rendering or 4K video editing may lag. For those tasks, users on forums often recommend upgrading to a model with a dedicated NVIDIA Quadro GPU. Also, expect noticeable fan noise and heat under sustained loads.

Question 4

Can I return it if something's wrong or if the specs don't match?

Accepted Answer

That depends on the seller, but most reputable renewed sellers offer a 30- to 90-day return window. Here's a tip from TikTok users: immediately run a system information tool (like HWiNFO) and check the battery report when you receive it. If the RAM, storage, or even the charger doesn't match the listing, document it with photos and contact support right away to start a hassle-free return.

Question 5

Who is this laptop best for, and when should I look elsewhere?

Accepted Answer

This ThinkPad is ideal for budget-conscious professionals or students who need serious CPU power for coding, virtual machines, or engineering software—and who don't mind the weight (almost 6 lbs). However, if you travel daily or do intensive video editing, many users say you'll be happier with a lighter Dell Precision or a newer ThinkPad P16. It's a powerhouse, but it's built for a desk, not a backpack.
