Question 1

Will this cable work with my MacBook Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max, and can I expect 40 Gbps data and 240W charging?

Accepted Answer

Yes, it supports USB4 with Thunderbolt 4 compatibility and up to 40 Gbps on USB4/TB4-capable devices. 240W charging is possible if your device and charger support it; real-world speeds depend on your specific devices and ports.

Question 2

I’m desk-bound but also travel sometimes. Is 1 meter the right length, or should I look for a different option?

Accepted Answer

1 meter is a versatile desk-to-device length that works well on a typical desk. If you need something more pocket-friendly or longer for couch use, consider other lengths in the Cable Matters USB4/TB4 lineup.

Question 3

How durable is the cable, and what is the build like?

Accepted Answer

The cable feels solid with sturdy connectors, and the jacket is flexible. Some users report fraying after long-term heavy use, so avoid sharp bends and store it neatly to maximize life. It’s not always braided, depending on the variant.

Question 4

Will it deliver 240W charging for my laptop, and what should I check before buying?

Accepted Answer

240W PD is supported when your charger and device negotiate 240W. Check that your charger can supply 240W and that your laptop supports USB-C PD at that level. If either side caps the wattage, you’ll see lower charging speeds.

Question 5

What about shipping, returns, and value for money?

Accepted Answer

Shipping times vary by retailer and region (often with options like fast/shipping-ready). Return policies typically offer a window (commonly around 30 days) and a manufacturer warranty. Many buyers feel it offers solid performance for the price, especially when used with compatible devices, though some compare it to cheaper alternatives.
