Question 1

Can I charge AA and AAA batteries together, and is it safe to leave them in after they're full?

Accepted Answer

Yes, you can! A major advantage of this charger is that all 8 bays are independent. You can mix AA, AAA, NiMH, and NiCD batteries in any slot at the same time. Regarding safety, the charger automatically switches to a trickle/maintenance charge once a battery is full, so it's designed to be left in. However, as with any charger, we recommend removing batteries once charged for optimal long-term battery health.

Question 2

How fast is the "fast charging" really? I've seen mixed comments online.

Accepted Answer

This is a common question. The charging speed depends on the battery's capacity (mAh) and how many bays are in use. For a standard 2000mAh AA battery, a single bay can charge it in about 2-3 hours. However, if you're filling all 8 bays with fully depleted batteries, the total time can be 8-10 hours. Many Reddit users accurately describe it as a reliable "overnight charger" for a full load, rather than a rapid 1-hour charger.

Question 3

The lights are confusing. What does a solid red light mean?

Accepted Answer

Great question—this trips up many new users. A blinking red light means the battery is actively charging. A solid red light can mean one of two things: 1) The battery is fully charged, or 2) The charger has detected a fault or a completely dead/unrecoverable battery. If a battery stays solid red for an extended period (e.g., 10+ hours), it's likely the battery cannot be revived. Trying it in another bay can help confirm.

Question 4

Is the build quality durable, or does it feel cheap? I'm concerned about the AC plug hinge.

Accepted Answer

The charger is designed for functionality and value. The housing is a practical plastic. While the vast majority of users report it holding up well with normal home use, a small number of critical reviews on YouTube have noted the AC plug hinge can be a weak point if handled roughly. For daily plugging/unplugging, we recommend holding the main body of the charger, not the folding plug itself, to ensure longevity.

Question 5

Who is this charger best suited for, and who might want to look at a more advanced model?

Accepted Answer

This EBL charger is a fantastic fit for households, parents, or anyone with a high volume of devices (toys, remotes, controllers) who wants an affordable, no-fuss way to manage many batteries. If your primary needs are individual charging slots and reliable performance, you'll likely be very satisfied. However, if you're a photographer or tech enthusiast who needs detailed voltage readouts, customizable refresh cycles, or wants to charge Li-ion batteries, you may want to consider a dedicated "smart" charger from brands like Nitecore or La Crosse.
