Question 1

Will the adhesive locks work on my specific kitchen cabinets?

Accepted Answer

The adhesive backing works exceptionally well on clean, smooth, non-porous surfaces like finished wood, melamine, and gloss paint. For best results, thoroughly clean the surface with rubbing alcohol before application. Many users on parenting forums note that on textured, laminated, or greasy surfaces, the bond may be less reliable. In those cases, we strongly recommend using the included screw-in option for a permanent hold.

Question 2

How strong is the unlocking magnet, and will it work through thick doors?

Accepted Answer

The parent magnet is designed to engage the latch through standard cabinet door thickness. Based on social media reviews, it works reliably on most single-layer doors. For thicker or solid wood doors, you may need to hold the magnet directly over the latch point (usually indicated by a guide sticker) and apply slight pressure. A common tip from TikTok users is to "slide" the magnet slightly until you feel it click.

Question 3

Is the installation truly "tool-free," and how permanent are the screw-in locks?

Accepted Answer

The adhesive installation is completely tool-free. For the screw-in option, while screws are included, creating a small pilot hole with a drill is highly recommended for easier installation into wood or dense materials—a point often mentioned in DIY YouTube reviews for a stress-free setup. Once screwed in, the locks are very secure and intended as a semi-permanent safety solution.

Question 4

My child is very observant. Can they figure out how to open these locks?

Accepted Answer

These magnetic locks are highly effective at preventing babies and young toddlers from accessing cabinets. However, as noted in some parent reviews, very determined or older children (often 3+) may learn the unlocking motion by observing you. They are best seen as a crucial safety barrier during the early years. For older children, some parents pair them with additional safety measures like stove knob covers.
