Question 1

Will this rodent repellent drain my car's battery, especially if I don't drive for a while?

Accepted Answer

This is a top concern we see. The device is designed with a low power draw for continuous protection. Based on user reports and specifications, when properly connected, it uses a minimal amount of power—similar to a very small LED. For most daily-driven vehicles, this is negligible. However, if you plan to leave your vehicle unused for several weeks or months (common for RVs or seasonal cars), many owners on forums recommend using a battery maintainer or disconnecting the device as a precautionary measure, just as you might for the battery itself.

Question 2

How do I know if it's actually working? I can't hear or see the ultrasonic sound.

Accepted Answer

That's a very fair question! Ultrasonic waves are inaudible to humans but disruptive to rodents. Since you can't perceive the sound directly, effectiveness is measured by the absence of rodent activity. Look for signs like no new nesting materials, chewed wires, or droppings in your engine bay after installation. Think of it as a preventative barrier. Many TikTok and Reddit users show "before and after" photos of their clean engine bays as their proof of success.

Question 3

Is the installation truly universal, and will it fit in a tight engine bay?

Accepted Answer

The device is compact and includes a versatile mounting bracket, making it suitable for most vehicles, from small cars to large trucks with 12V or 24V systems. Installation typically involves connecting to a fuse tap (included for many models), the OBD-II port, or directly to the battery. In tight spaces, a common DIY tip from YouTube reviewers is to forego the bracket and use heavy-duty zip ties to securely mount it to a stable, heat-resistant hose or wire loom away from moving parts.

Question 4

I have an active rodent problem. Will this device get rid of existing mice or rats?

Accepted Answer

This device is primarily a deterrent, not an exterminator. Its purpose is to create an uncomfortable environment that discourages rodents from entering and settling in your engine bay. If you already have an established nest, you should first remove the animals and any nesting material using traps or professional help. *Then*, install the repellent to help prevent them from returning. Users with severe infestations often find it works best as part of a combined strategy with initial clean-out.

Question 5

What's the realistic durability of this, and can it handle weather extremes?

Accepted Answer

Constructed with automotive-grade plastics and electronics, the repeller is designed to withstand the harsh environment of an engine bay, including vibration, dust, and moisture. However, like any electronic device under the hood, its lifespan can be influenced by extreme and constant heat. Most satisfied customers report it lasting multiple seasons. For the best longevity, ensure connections are secure to prevent moisture ingress and mount it in a location that avoids direct exposure to the hottest components like the exhaust manifold.
