Question 1

Are these comfortable for all-day wear, especially if I wear glasses?

Accepted Answer

Comfort is subjective, but it's a common point of discussion. The Major IVs are on-ear headphones. Many users find them perfectly comfortable for extended listening sessions. However, some users with larger ears or who wear glasses report they can feel some pressure after a few hours. If you're sensitive to on-ear pressure or wear thick-frame glasses, you might want to take periodic breaks. For all-day, every-day comfort, over-ear models might be a better fit.

Question 2

How do the physical controls work, and are they easy to use?

Accepted Answer

Instead of touch panels, the Major IV uses a satisfying physical knob for volume and buttons for playback/power. It offers a tactile, retro feel that many love for its precision. The learning curve is minimal: the multi-function button handles play/pause, track skipping, and call management with single, double, or triple presses. While different from touch controls, most users find it becomes second nature quickly and appreciate not having accidental swipes.

Question 3

There's no Active Noise Cancellation (ANC). Is that a big problem?

Accepted Answer

It depends on your primary use case. The Major IV does not have ANC; it uses passive noise isolation from its ear cups. This is perfect for home, office, or quiet commutes where you want to stay aware of your surroundings. However, if you plan to use them primarily on loud airplanes, subways, or busy open offices, you will hear significant ambient noise. As many reviews note, these are built for legendary battery life and iconic style, not for creating a silent bubble.

Question 4

What's the real-world battery life, and how useful is the quick charge?

Accepted Answer

The 80+ hour battery life is not just a spec—it's the most consistently praised feature in user reviews. In real-world use with mixed volume and Bluetooth, getting over a week of heavy use on a single charge is common. The quick charge is a lifesaver: just 15 minutes of charging provides about 15 hours of playback, perfect for when you forget to plug them in overnight.

Question 5

Who are these headphones really best suited for?

Accepted Answer

The Marshall Major IV is a champion for specific listeners. You'll likely love them if you: prioritize incredible battery life above all else, value iconic design and durable build quality, enjoy a rich, bass-forward sound perfect for rock and pop, and mainly listen in quieter environments. They might not be the ideal choice if your top needs are absolute noise cancellation, featherweight comfort for 8+ hours, or a neutral, analytical sound profile for critical listening.
