Question 1

Does the locking mechanism hold the shape well?

Accepted Answer

Yes. One reviewer said the lock holds shape well, and another reported reliable locking mechanisms on both sections with adjustable friction for better control.

Question 2

Is this tool accurate enough for detailed or irregular shapes?

Accepted Answer

It works well for basic shapes, but one reviewer noted the splines are too thick to follow every detail of something like a rock wall, so it may get you in the ballpark with some adjustment needed. The listing states the blade thickness is only 0.05 inches, making measurements accurate.

Question 3

How easy is it to use?

Accepted Answer

Reviewers describe it as very easy to use — just measure, secure, transfer and cut — with one saying it reduced work time by more than 50%. The listing says you simply press the copied shape onto the material to be cut, then trim the contour.

Question 4

What is the gauge made of and how durable does it feel?

Accepted Answer

The listing states it is made of high quality ABS plastic that is strong, waterproof and wear-resistant. Reviewers described it as nice, thick, sturdy material with solid build quality.

Question 5

Can it be used for different types of work?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The listing says it can be used for vinyl tiles laying, tiling, laminate flooring, carpet cutting, wallpapering, wall panelling, wood working, moulding, welding and DIY, and one reviewer noted it is useful for creating duplicate complex shapes in wood and metalworking, arts and crafts, and sewing.
