Question 1

Is the advertised 8880mWh battery capacity accurate, or is it misleading marketing?

Accepted Answer

While many users report a massive and satisfying improvement over their old, worn-out PS5 battery, some tech-savvy buyers have tested the actual capacity and found it to be lower than advertised. The consensus on social platforms like Reddit is that the performance gain is real and significant for extended gaming, but the exact milliwatt-hour (mWh) rating should be viewed as a marketing indicator rather than a laboratory-grade specification.

Question 2

How difficult is the installation for someone with no repair experience?

Accepted Answer

The process is generally considered straightforward! Most reviews and TikTok tutorials show it taking about 10-15 minutes. The kit includes the essential tools (like the security Torx T8 screwdriver). We recommend having a small container for screws and following a detailed video guide online for your first time, as the included paper instructions are quite basic.

Question 3

What is included in the kit, and is the quality of the tools and adhesive good?

Accepted Answer

You get two replacement batteries, two sets of adhesive strips for resealing the controller, a screwdriver with multiple bits (including the crucial T8), and a spudger/opening tool. Feedback on the tools is overwhelmingly positive—they get the job done. A common note from users is that the adhesive strips can be somewhat thin; some prefer to use their own stronger double-sided tape for a perfectly snug reseal.

Question 4

What happens if one of the batteries is dead on arrival or stops working soon after?

Accepted Answer

While the vast majority of kits work perfectly, there is a small chance of receiving a faulty unit, as with any electronics. It's a primary pain point mentioned in negative reviews. We recommend testing both batteries soon after purchase. The product is backed by the seller's return/replacement policy through Amazon, so you can request a replacement or refund if you encounter any issues.

Question 5

Who is this battery kit best suited for, and who should consider an alternative?

Accepted Answer

This kit is an excellent, cost-effective solution for the average gamer whose original PS5 controller battery no longer holds a charge. It's perfect for DIYers who want an all-in-one fix. However, if you are technically meticulous about exact battery specifications or prefer branded components with extensive repair guides, you might be happier investing in a premium kit from a specialist like iFixit.
