Question 1

Is Kryonaut worth the premium price over the thermal paste that came with my cooler?

Accepted Answer

For most standard or non-overclocked systems, the included paste is perfectly adequate. However, if you're pushing your CPU or GPU with overclocking, benchmarking, or sustained heavy workloads, Kryonaut is consistently praised in enthusiast communities for delivering measurably lower temperatures. Think of it as a premium upgrade for maximizing performance, not a necessity for every build.

Question 2

How often do I need to reapply this thermal paste?

Accepted Answer

Under normal conditions, Kryonaut should last 2-3 years. It's important to note that some high-performance users, particularly those with high-temperature fluctuations from overclocking, have reported the paste may degrade or "pump out" sooner, requiring reapplication within 1-2 years. For maximum long-term stability without maintenance, pastes like Noctua NT-H2 are often cited as alternatives.

Question 3

What's the best way to apply it, and is the syringe messy?

Accepted Answer

The consensus among experienced users is a small pea-sized dot in the center of the CPU IHS for most applications. While the paste itself spreads smoothly, the syringe can dispense a lot if you squeeze too hard—go slow! Many TikTok and Reddit builders recommend practicing pressure on a piece of paper first. It's not electrically conductive, so cleanup with isopropyl alcohol is safe if you apply too much.

Question 4

Can I use this on my graphics card (GPU) as well as my CPU?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely. Kryonaut is perfectly safe and effective for repasting GPUs. In fact, a common use case noted in reviews is reviving an older, hotter-running graphics card. Just ensure you use the proper amount (a thin, even layer is key for GPU dies) and follow a trusted teardown guide for your specific model.

Question 5

I'm building a new PC but not planning to overclock. Is this the right paste for me?

Accepted Answer

For a standard build, you might not see a dramatic benefit that justifies the cost. The overwhelming praise for Kryonaut's cooling performance comes from users stressing their systems. For a reliable, set-and-forget experience on a non-overclocked PC, excellent and more affordable alternatives like Arctic MX-6 are frequently recommended by the community and offer fantastic performance and longevity.
