Question 1

Will this HDMI switch deliver true 4K@60Hz with HDR for my PS5 or Xbox Series X?

Accepted Answer

It supports 4K@60Hz and HDR on paper, but real-world performance can vary. Many users—especially on Reddit and TikTok—report that demanding devices like the PS5 or Xbox Series X may only output 4K@30Hz through this switch, or HDR can look washed out. It works best for 1080p gaming or casual streaming. For full 4K@60 HDR reliability, consider a powered switch with dedicated HDMI 2.0 support.

Question 2

Does it need external power to work, and what if I lose the cable?

Accepted Answer

It can sometimes work without external power if your source device (like a laptop) provides enough juice through the HDMI port. However, most TVs and consoles don’t supply enough power, so you’ll need the included USB cable. Several reviewers found the cable too short and had to buy a standard 5V/1A phone charger separately—any USB-A to micro-USB cable will do.

Question 3

I want to use it as a splitter (1 input, 2 outputs) and a switcher (2 inputs, 1 output). Does it support both modes reliably?

Accepted Answer

Yes, it’s designed to work in both modes, but not all users report smooth performance in splitter mode. Some found that one output gets a weaker signal or the display doesn’t detect the source. It’s most reliable as a simple 2-to-1 switcher. If you need a true 1-to-2 splitter for identical dual displays, a dedicated splitter may work better.

Question 4

Will it auto-switch between devices, and does it support ARC for my soundbar?

Accepted Answer

The switch can auto-detect the last active input, but this feature is hit-or-miss. Some devices (like older Roku sticks) trigger it reliably, while others (like certain Blu-ray players) cause the screen to go black briefly. It does not support ARC or eARC, so if your soundbar relies on HDMI audio return, you’ll need to connect it directly to your TV instead.

Question 5

Is the aluminum build durable, and how do returns work if it’s defective?

Accepted Answer

The aluminum shell feels solid and helps with heat dissipation, but the HDMI ports are tightly fitted—inserting cables carefully is a must. Several buyers had ports loosen after a few weeks. Returns are handled by the seller; check the listing for the return window (typically 30 days). If you get a dud, many users report that a replacement unit works fine, so customer service is generally responsive.
