Question 1

How bad is the litter tracking, and is there a way to manage it?

Accepted Answer

Litter tracking is the most common complaint we see. The lightweight crystals can get kicked out easily. Many Reddit and TikTok users recommend using a high-sided litter mat (like a "holey" rug mat) or even placing the entire unit inside a larger, low-walled tote to contain the scatter. It's a trade-off for the excellent odor control the crystals provide.

Question 2

Is the disposable tray system a hassle? Can I use my own litter to save money?

Accepted Answer

The proprietary tray system is a key point to consider. While convenient, the recurring cost adds up. The unit is designed specifically for these pre-filled trays, and using loose crystals or other litters will void the warranty and likely cause jams. For long-term savings, some experienced owners carefully refill the trays with bulk crystals, but this requires disassembly and isn't officially supported.

Question 3

Is this suitable for a household with two or more cats?

Accepted Answer

It depends on your cats' habits. While marketed for multi-cat homes, social media reviews are mixed. For two average cats, many owners report the tray needs changing every 2-3 weeks, not the full month. For more than two cats, or cats that urinate in large volumes, the tray may fill up much faster, leading to odor and overflow. For multiple cats, a system with a larger waste drawer is often recommended.

Question 4

How reliable is the automatic raking mechanism? I've seen complaints about jams.

Accepted Answer

The mechanism is effective but can be delicate. The most common cause of jams is overly wet or large clumps. Ensuring your cat's health is good (so clumps are firm) and occasionally breaking up larger clumps manually can prevent most issues. Some YouTube tutorials show how to clean the sensors and rails for maintenance. It's generally "set and forget," but occasional manual check-ins are wise.

Question 5

Is the upfront cost worth it compared to just scooping a traditional box?

Accepted Answer

This comes down to what you value most. If your top priorities are odor control and not scooping daily, then yes, users consistently say it's a game-changer. The value is highest for single-cat owners, those with mobility issues, or people who travel. However, if you're highly budget-conscious or have several cats, the ongoing tray costs and potential for mechanical issues might make a premium traditional setup or a different automatic model a better long-term value.
