Question 1

Does this adapter convert voltage, or does it only change the plug shape?

Accepted Answer

This is a plug shape adapter only—it does not convert voltage. It lets European two-pin plugs physically fit into US, Canadian, and Mexican outlets. For devices that need voltage conversion (like hair dryers or curling irons), you'll need a separate step-down transformer. As many TikTok travelers have pointed out, double-check your device's voltage rating before plugging in; most phone and laptop chargers are dual-voltage and work fine.

Question 2

Will this adapter work with three-prong US plugs or polarized plugs?

Accepted Answer

No, this adapter is designed for European two-pin plugs with equal-width prongs. It won't fit three-prong grounded plugs or polarized US plugs (where one blade is wider than the other). If your device has a wider prong or a third grounding pin, look for an adapter with a universal or grounded design. Some Reddit users have warned about having to modify their plugs, which isn't safe.

Question 3

Can I use this with high-wattage devices like a hair dryer or space heater?

Accepted Answer

We recommend sticking to low-wattage electronics like phone chargers, tablets, cameras, and laptops. This adapter is not rated for high-wattage appliances (typically over 1000W). Users have reported overheating and even melting plastic when using it with hair dryers or curling irons. For high-wattage gear, you'll need a heavy-duty travel adapter with built-in thermal protection.

Question 4

Why does the adapter feel loose in some wall outlets?

Accepted Answer

Some users have noted a slightly loose fit in older or worn wall sockets. This usually happens because the prongs are designed to be compact for European plugs. In most modern outlets, it holds fine, but if you're plugging into an old or loosely fitted socket, you may notice some wobble. We suggest testing it in a different outlet or gently adjusting the position. For peace of mind, many travelers use a short extension cord with their adapter to reduce strain.

Question 5

How durable is this adapter—will it survive multiple trips?

Accepted Answer

The adapter is designed for occasional travel, not heavy daily use. Most users find it holds up well for a few trips, but some have reported cracking at the prong base after repeated plugging/unplugging. For light packing and short vacations, it's a wallet-friendly choice. If you're a frequent flyer or digital nomad, you might want to invest in a sturdier, reinforced model—our two-pack makes it easy to keep a backup handy just in case.
